An island with a west coast that faces the sunset, and resorts that have done this before.
Phu Quoc is the easiest island in Vietnam to get married on, and the easiest to photograph badly. It is flat, it is bright, and almost every beach faces the same direction. This page is what we would tell you on the phone.
Pre-wedding session on the island, six working hours, team travel and stay included: USD 1,380. A full wedding day photographed and filmed by our crew: from USD 3,000. Planning in English, Vietnamese with your family and the venue. A deposit of USD 100 holds the date.
Three practical reasons, in the order couples actually give them.
The honest counterweight: the island is popular, the famous beaches are busy by mid morning, and a lot of what gets posted from here looks identical. The work is in finding the quiet hour and the stretch of coast nobody photographs, which is a planning job more than a camera job.
The dry season runs roughly November to April. Calm sea, clean light, and the sunsets the island is known for. This is also when the island is fullest, so the quiet locations matter more.
May to October is the wet half. In practice that usually means a heavy hour in the afternoon and a clear evening, not a washed out week, and the light after rain is often the best of the year. It is workable if your schedule can move by two hours on the day. If it cannot, come in the dry season.
If you are choosing between provinces rather than months, our note on how the three regions run on opposite calendars is the page to read first, because the north and the south are rarely good in the same week.
Most weddings here are resort weddings, and they have a shape of their own: getting ready in the room, a ceremony on the sand or on a lawn at the end of the afternoon, dinner outdoors, and a party that runs late because nobody has to drive home.
Two things we plan for every time. The first is wind, which is constant on an open beach and decides where the ceremony can actually stand. The second is the hour: a ceremony called for five o'clock on paper often starts at twenty past, and the light does not wait, so we agree a real timeline with your planner rather than the one on the invitation.
If your family will also hold a tea ceremony on the mainland before you fly down, tell us early. We cover both, and it changes the plan more than people expect.
Tai and Sandy flew home from the United States and were photographed at a resort here: a small ceremony on the lawn in front of the old colonial building, vows they had written out on paper, then the beach at the end of the afternoon.
The part worth telling you about is that the groom's parents came down with them. They were not guests at a wedding, because there was no wedding that week. They were two people who had not been photographed properly with their son in years, standing under the same flowers, in the same light, for about ten minutes.
Those are the frames the family asked for first. If your parents are coming with you, say so when you book and we will plan the ten minutes in rather than squeeze them in at the end. We do this as a session of its own too, and it is on the family portrait page.

Almost every couple we photograph on the island books from another country, so the whole process is built for that. You tell us the dates you are in Vietnam. We come back within a day with availability, a price and a plan for the hours. Nothing is charged until that plan is agreed in writing.
We talk to you in English and to your parents and your venue in Vietnamese, which sounds like a small thing until the week of the wedding, when it is the only thing keeping one version of the schedule alive. If your families are in two different cities and you need coverage in both, that is a normal shape for us and it is on the wedding day page.
A pre-wedding session on the island is USD 1,380 for six working hours, with the team's travel and stay included. A full wedding day photographed and filmed by our crew starts at USD 3,000. A deposit of USD 100 holds the date and locks the price.
Yes, and with one team. The photographers and the cinematographers are briefed together the week before and work to a single plan on the day, so nobody blocks anybody and you are never asked to repeat a moment for the other lens.
The dry months, roughly November to April, are the reliable ones, with calm sea and clean sunsets on the west coast. May to October brings heavy afternoon rain that usually passes in an hour, which is workable but needs a flexible schedule. We will tell you honestly if the week you have chosen is a gamble.
La Veranda, InterContinental and JW Marriott, among others on the island. They photograph very differently: colonial verandas, a lily pond and a long yellow facade at one, arched pools and painted blue and white blocks at another, open beach at a third. Tell us where you are staying and we will tell you honestly what the place gives us and what it does not.
Yes. Each property has its own rules about where a crew may set up and at what hour, so we ask them those questions in writing before the day rather than on the morning. If your resort charges an outside vendor fee, that is quoted to you before you pay anything.
For a session, yes. Two days on the island is comfortable: one to arrive and look at the light, one to shoot. For a wedding, give yourself three, because guests arrive tired and the day before is worth keeping free.
Yes. Planning, the brief and the directing on the day are all in English, and we speak Vietnamese with your parents and the venue staff so nothing is lost between the two sides.
